Cleaning before staging is the practical order, staging furniture and decor is far easier to place and photograph well in a space that's already spotless, rather than needing to clean carefully around newly placed furniture and risk marking it.
A full clean beforehand also gives the stylist a genuinely clear space to work with, dust, marks and grime can affect how staging choices read in the finished result, a beautifully staged room still won't photograph well against a dusty windowsill or streaked glass.
If a touch-up clean is needed after staging is complete, that's normal, but it should be a light pass rather than the main clean, doing the heavy cleaning work first sets up everything that follows to go more smoothly.
